My Background
I obtained my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degree from Northern Kentucky University with honors and with a concentration in Trauma-Informed Care. Currently I am also studying for my Doctor of Social Work degree. I have over 8 years of experience working with youth and adults in various settings while implementing holistic and evidence-based practices. Since 2013, I have gained very in-depth experience in areas such as psychiatry, community-based therapy, child welfare, juvenile court, adult services, corrections, and much more.
I have extensive training in Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM), Crisis Intervention, Seeking Safety, Motivational interviewing, and evidence-based practices, which have equipped me with the skills necessary to effectively support individuals in managing their mental health and well-being. I am also a certified Trauma-Informed Care Clinician.
I understand that life can become overwhelming, and I am dedicated to working with individuals in identifying and addressing barriers. My specialty is focused on serving children and young adults. I believe as a professional it starts with empowering others which encourages a positive outcome. Today you took the first step. Now let’s work together for a better tomorrow!
If you are….
If you are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, or the effects of past trauma, they can make you feel overwhelmed by emotions and make you struggle with self-esteem or relationship challenges. I have a a safe space here for you to express your feelings, practical coping strategies, and get guidance in understanding your experiences.
This can be a place we revolve around achieving greater emotional stability, improving relationships, and building resilience. Or you may want to work on feeling more in control of your life, finding joy in daily activities, and healing from past wounds. Ultimately, you may want to seek a sense of fulfillment and purpose, and are motivated by the desire for happiness and a more balanced, meaningful life.
My Specialties:
My top three specialties are trauma-informed care, anxiety and depression management, and culturally responsive and LGBTQ+ affirming care.
Anxiety
In treating anxiety, I focus on understanding the individual triggers and patterns that contribute to their feelings. I approach it through evidence-based strategies like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps clients reframe negative thought patterns and develop coping mechanisms. Mindfulness techniques and relaxation exercises can also be beneficial in managing anxiety symptoms.
Depression
When addressing depression, I aim to create a supportive and validating environment where clients can express their feelings without judgment. I often employ approaches like behavioral activation, encouraging clients to engage in activities that promote a sense of accomplishment and joy. Exploring underlying thoughts and beliefs through CBT can also help clients challenge negative thinking and rebuild motivation.
Trauma
In working with trauma, I prioritize creating safety and trust within the therapeutic relationship. I utilize trauma-informed care principles, recognizing the impact of trauma on a person’s life and emotional state. Techniques such as narrative therapy can help clients process their experiences and integrate them into their life stories, fostering healing and resilience.
ADHD
In treating ADHD, I focus on identifying each client’s unique challenges with attention, organization, and impulse control. Using evidence-based practices, I incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients develop practical strategies for managing symptoms, such as breaking down tasks, setting achievable goals, and building routines. Executive functioning coaching is also integral, allowing clients to strengthen planning, time management, and decision-making skills. Additionally, I provide psychoeducation to help clients understand the neurological underpinnings of ADHD, empowering them to approach challenges with self-compassion and resilience.
