Hi there and welcome to Mind Trek Counseling! My name is Adam (Shiyue) Qin and I’m a mental health therapist providing services to clients of all ages.
I graduated from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and have received a variety of evidence-based training including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Exposure Therapy (ET), Existential Therapy, Guided Imagery, Mindfulness, 12-Step Recovery, and Culturally Sensitive Approach. Previously, I also worked at Cleveland Clinic as a therapist treating substance abuse with an interdisciplinary team.
Professional Affiliations:
ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (Evergreen Certifications-962324) which provides me extensive trainings of treating ADHD.
Professional Member of Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD). I get continuous learning and updating about cutting edge ADHD research and practice.
How do I diagnose and approach treatment?
I take the approach of Biopsychosocial history assessment to diagnose first, and I provide tons of validations from all perspectives throughout the whole treatment! I believe you can change by focusing on what is important to you, and your strengths.
We’ll start with exploring to explain why things and symptoms could happen to you through all this time you have been bothered. Then with each diagnosis, I use all my above training combined with a different therapy approach to meet the unique needs of it. For example, with ADHD, I take a combination of neurological, psychological, physiological, developmental, and nutritional perspectives. And for Trauma and Anxiety, I take a Mind & Body treatment approach.
Struggling with mental disorders is painful. However, therapy and medication are equally helpful. Therefore, what we talk about, changes how we view our problems and the world around us. Specifically, trauma is living in the past and anxiety is living in the future. If you are struggling with both of them, we can work together to live in the current moment.
