Jessica Karrer, LPC, MS
Hi there and welcome to Mind Trek Counseling! Hi, my name is Jessica and I would love to help you on your mental health journey. I work collaboratively with my clients, believing that each individual knows what will work best for them, yet sometimes needs assistance in getting to where they want to be. I believe that every person is unique and special, so I treat every client as such, working with them to accomplish their best outcomes. If you are feeling lonely, stressed, depressed, or confused I will assist you in finding solutions.
My education and training background
I have my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and am currently working as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Before that I worked as a Medical Technologist, doing bloodwork in a lab. Through my knowledge and experience, I have a great understanding of how the mind and body work together. I constantly read up on new techniques and advances in the field and do continuing education on such topics. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and use that knowledge and empathy to help my clients open up about issues in that area. I have attended trainings on complex trauma, sexuality, couple's dynamics, and family functioning, all of which have helped to advance my knowledge base and assist my clients.
If you are…
Individuals or couples who are dealing with ADHD, PTSD, LGBTQIA+ issues, gender and sexuality concerns, sex positivity, self-esteem, complex trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), existential concerns, and general everyday problems. Relationship and LGBTQIA+ issues also include polyamory, alternative lifestyles, kink, fetish, sex positivity, sexual dysfunction, cheating, or divorce matters. I’m also very good at working with clients who have Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
Or if you have needs of having a better relationship, to gain an understanding of what your wants and needs are, and how to incorporate those with your partner, I can help by offering psychoeducation in a safe place for opening up and being heard. I can assist you in practicing effective communication skills and in learning their love languages. skill building, distress tolerance, and self-reflection would be introduced to achieve a healthier, happier inner peace and interpersonal relationship.
How can I help?
I utilize a collaborative approach, working closely with my clients as I believe they have the answers within themselves yet may need help in uncovering them. I use an array of therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of my client. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Solution-focused Focused Therapy (SFT), Reality-Based Therapy (RBT), and Adlerian Therapy. I take a humanistic, empathetic approach with all my clients, meeting them where they are at, allowing them the opportunity to be themselves, and exploring their own needs and desires.
